I’m back from vacation in Brandenburg, where we rented a boat to ride on the river Havel, starting in Brandenburg a. d. Havel and going to Rathenow. I am really overwhelmed by the beauty of the landscape in this country. There are secluded, romantic spots on the Havel, like here at Pritzerbe, where we moored for one night. Romantic in the best sense of the word (Theodor Fontane would have been delighted :). I tried a bit to capture the mood in my sketchbooks: The middle one comes from my Boesner watercolor sketchbook, which my dear colleagues from the board of the great Illustratoren Organisation (the association of German-speaking illustrators) gave me as a birthday present. The top and bottom are drawn with colored pencils from Faber Castell (so-called “Polychromos”) in a sketchbook with different paper choices by Edizioni Precarie, which I bought in Florence last year. Both techniques are always a lot of fun for me, the picture below was particularly exciting to draw because I drew it early in the morning at four o’clock at dusk – a very special moment.
