20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Graphic Novel Concert

October 11th, 7:30 pm, Heinrich Schulz Library, Otto-Suhr-Allee 96, 10585 Berlin

On October 11, the musician Jörg Walter and I will give a musical reading of my 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA graphic novel! This time in the great Heinrich Schulz library in the imposing town hall of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in Berlin.

In this form of a book reading accompanied by live music, we will take you into the fantastic underwater world of Jules Verne: While the images from the graphic novel are playing in front of your eyes, I will read thoughtfully linked excerpts from the comic based on Jules Verne’s famous classic (now out at Carlsen Comics Publishing House in Germany) to live music improvisations by Jörg on a historic reed organ (that fits to Nemo’s organ obsessions, right?). We let the adventures of Captain Nemo and its passengers come alive for you, and the musical improvisations follow leitmotifs for Nemo, Arronax, Conseil and Ned Land (the fabled harpooner :), as well as the sea itself!

Afterwards I will give a small report (with pictures) about how I worked on the graphic novel and give insights into the work of a comic artist, and I would be happy to sign your copies of the book if you bring them. So come, everyone, on October 11th, at 7:30 p.m. to Otto-Suhr-Allee 96 (the venue) & let us enchant you and take you on an adventurous journey under the sea!

UNPUBLISHED – Comic Exhibition at the Ludwiggalerie Oberhausen

October 3rd, 2021 – January 16th, 2022, Ludwiggalerie at Schloss Oberhausen, Northrhine-Westfalia

I’m looking forward to the weekend and this exhibition in the Ludwiggalerie in Schloss Oberhausen: ‘Unpublished’ shows works by German comic artists that have been slumbering in the drawers, i.e. projects that have not yet found a publisher or any other means of publication. Every now and then comic artists work on projects where it’s either unclear if they will ever see the light of day or if it’s intended that they will be published. There can be many different reasons why projects were first considered and then not pursued, and the exhibition also tries to get to the bottom of this fact and brings together originals by well-known German comic artists. I am represented with works on my two gay adventure comic heroes Damian & Alexander and will be there for the vernissage on September 2nd, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. I look forward to seeing you there!
