September 17 + 18, 2021, 4-6 pm (Friday) + 9.30 am-5 pm (Saturday), barcamp (in ZOOM)
I’m really looking forward to this online barcamp, where I’m a speaker! It’s WISSVibes21!
WISSVibes is a project by Tanja Wehr, which has set itself the goal of spreading knowledge culture (“Knowing is the new sexy”) through events such as this barcamp. In case you wonder, A barcamp means that there is a fixed schedule, but the topics are not so strictly defined in advance. Similar to conferences, speakers are booked about 6 months in advance and everything is packed up and ready, but at the event itself there is enough space and time to have the interesting conversations during the breaks because of which we all are attending, too.
I will be there with a keynote speech at the event taking place in ZOOM. My topic is: “‘Getting knowledge among the people – edutainment in comics and children’s books”. As you can see from my works shown here on this site, I illustrate non-fiction books and comics that repeatedly incorporate historical facts on the visual and narrative level. In my talk, I want to show my approach to researching and incorporating these facts into my work, and how they influence both the illustration and the narrative.
I will hold my speech on Saturday morning. But you can also find out more about the program of the barcamp here.
I would love to see you on the other side of the screen at the weekend! See ya!
